The NSP3 Deconstruction Project is an initiative by Wayne County EDGE to promote workforce development and environmental responsibility through federally funded demolition and housing rehabilitation programs. The deconstruction activities will enable employees to enhance the construction-related knowledge and skills they acquired during training to position them to obtain longer-term employment in the skilled trades. Since September 2013, SER has utilized NSP3 funds to deconstruct and demolish blighted properties and enhance neighborhoods within Wayne County. SER has employed 23 SER program graduates and deconstructed 19 properties. Phase 1 and 2 were successfully concluded under budget on July 29, 2013.
