Zainab Mohamed, graduated from SER Learning Academy in May of 2011. She is presently attending Henry Ford Community College with a major in Business. Mrs. Mohamed, who recently turned 20, has been married since she was 16years old and has a 3 year old child named Ahmed, She came to SLA because other schools, including the one right in front of her house, refused to enroll her due to her age or wanted to change her for taking high school classes. Mrs. Mohamed was concerned about taking the GED because she didn’t get the kind of educational assistance she needed from other agencies. Mrs. Mohamed attended SLA for two years and worked extremely hard even though she had childcare issues and was sometimes made to babysit younger siblings when her parents went to Yemen. She also worked part time and frequently went straight to work immediately after school ended for that day. She never gave up and took advantage of every opportunity to learn all she could. Mrs. Mohamed, an American citizen who was born in Yemen, appreciates the opportunities that we given to her to achieve and gain the education she needs.
